Jollof and Braai is part of a travelling cultural project that has evolved across geographies through food, music, and community. The project began in 2019 in New Jersey, USA as Jollof and Guac, using food as an entry point for African–diaspora exchange. It later took root in Lagos, Nigeria in 2023 as Jollof Thursdays, becoming a recurring cultural gathering centered on music, conversation, and communal participation. ‘Jollof in the Studio’ emerged in Johannesburg in 2025 embedding the practice within the studio’s ongoing creative and community-facing programming.

 

Jollof and Braai, extends this lineage as a Pan-African campaign for cultural exchange and unity, aligning the project with Africa Day 2026 and positioning it as a continental platform rather than a single event.
